Peel officer struck by vehicle while investigating car crash in Brampton

A Peel Regional Police officer remains in hospital in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle while investigating a car crash in Brampton on Tuesday night.

The collision happened at around 8:15 p.m. on Chinguacousy Road south of Bovaird Drive West.

Police tell CityNews the officer was in the southbound lanes attending to a separate collision when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

The officer suffered a head injury, while driver of the vehicle was uninjured. The officer is expected to remain in hospital for a few days.

There’s no word on potential charges at the point.

Chinguacousy Road was closed in both directions between Bovaird Drive Williams Parkway for the investigation, but the roads have since reopened.
