Youth charged with 2nd-degree murder in Toronto man’s death

A 17-year-old male teenager is facing a second-degree murder charge in the stabbing death of a man in Toronto earlier this month, police said.

Authorities received reports of a sudden death on May 2 just before 1:30 p.m. in the Bathurst Street and Roselawn Avenue area in Forest Hill.

Police said a man was found dead inside an apartment unit with stab wounds and apparent signs of trauma. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Eugene Maxwell Erlichman of Toronto.

On May 3, authorities arrested a 17-year-old male youth from Brighton, Ont. He’s been charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators have not disclosed how or if the pair knew each other.

The accused was not identified by means of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
