Swimmer pronounced dead after being pulled from Lake Ontario

A man in his 20s has died after being pulled from the water in Lake Ontario.

Emergency crews conducted a marine search near Bluffer’s Park Beach in Scarborough just after 4 p.m. on Monday.

Police say a man was rescued from the water and transferred to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police told 680 NewsRadio Toronto that the man was on a floatation device that deflated while in the water. They explain that the man had been there with his brother and friends, who saw him struggle once the device deflated. Several of them swam to find the man but couldn’t find him.

The floatation device hasn’t been found.
