The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a man and a police officer were injured during the course of an investigation in Hamilton on Saturday.
The SIU says Hamilton police were called to an apartment building on Main Street West around 5 p.m. after reports a man was acting in a threatening manner
“Hamilton Police Service officers made their way to the 5th floor of the building. At some point, they became involved in an interaction with a man. There was an exchange of gunfire, resulting in both the man and an officer suffering gunshot wounds,” the SIU said in a statement.
