Mayday call forces Porter plane to land at Toronto Pearson airport

A Porter Airlines plane arriving from Ottawa safely landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport following a mayday call.

“The crew received an indication that led them to follow standard procedures by declaring a mayday. Passengers deplaned on the tarmac after landing safely and were bussed to the terminal,” a Porter Airlines spokesperson confirmed to CityNews.

Porter Airlines said preliminary inspections indicated no issues with the aircraft.

A Pearson Airport spokesperson said emergency crews were called, and no injuries were reported.

Flight 2704 left Ottawa just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday and landed in Toronto at Pearson an hour later.

How many passengers were on the Porter Airlines flight at the time is unclear.
