18-year-old wanted Canada-wide in violent Vaughan home invasion

An 18-year-old is wanted Canada-wide for his alleged involvement in an armed home invasion that resulted in a resident being shot and injured in Vaughan earlier this week.

York Regional Police (YRP) officers responded to a home invasion at a residence in the area of Sir Sanford Fleming Way and Grand Turk Avenue just before 4 a.m. on Monday.

A resident of the home was located at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.

Authorities said 18-year-old Doneil Josiah Levy-Porter of Brampton is wanted Canada-wide for numerous offences, including robbery with a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with an undertaking, among other related charges.

YRP officers have been unable to locate the suspect. Investigators released a photo and are appealing to the public for information regarding his whereabouts.

“The accused is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in,” YRP wrote in a news release. “Investigators are reminding the public that anyone who assists Levy-Porter could be charged with a criminal offence.”

Police said the accused is considered armed and dangerous and is a threat to public safety. Witnesses are asked not to approach him and call 911 immediately if he’s spotted.
