35-year-old woman dies after being hit by box truck in Etobicoke

A woman has died after being struck by a box truck in Etobicoke on Thursday morning, Toronto police say.

A 35-year-old woman has died after being struck by a box truck in Etobicoke on Thursday morning, Toronto police say.

Emergency responders were called to the area of Islington Avenue and Dixon Road just after 9 a.m.

Police say the vehicle, which was travelling south on Islington, was making a right turn to head west on Dixon, when it struck the woman, who was crossing Dixon from the north side to the south of the street.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver remained on scene.

Islington and Dixon is closed amid the collision investigation.
