They didn’t expect to find him here, but more than anything they’re just happy they found him at all.
Thanks to a woman who made a connection between a man she knew and a picture she saw on the America ‘s Most Wanted website, Toronto Police and Canada ‘s Border Services Agency were able to apprehend 24-year-old Mikhail Drachev, wanted in connection with a 2001 murder in Arizona .
Drachev’s accused of involvement in the murder of 21-year-old Konstantin Simberg, a police informant who was doused with an accelerant and stabbed in the back before dying from his injuries.
Two others involved in the 2001 attack were arrested at the time, but Drachev, the third suspect, moved to Toronto where he managed to avoid authorities until Friday, when thanks to the tip police finally made the connection and tracked him down in a Rexdale-area apartment.
Drachev’s currently in the custody of the Canada Border Services Agency and also faces kidnapping charges.
