Daughter accused of murder in Markham home invasion due back in court

The woman accused of faking a home invasion where her mother died and father was seriously injured is due back in a Toronto court Monday.

Jennifer Pan, 24, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Police believe Pan was the mastermind behind staging a November 8, 2010 home invasion of her family’s house in Markham.

Authorities say three individuals entered the Pan home through the front door around 10:30 p.m. The intruders allegedly shot Bich-Ha Pan and her husband numerous times before looting the house of cash and valuables.

Their daughter Jennifer told police she was tied up after the men broke in. She said she managed to break free and call 911.

Investigators initially believed it was a random act, but quickly changed their assessment and arrested Jennifer Pan, along with four others.

Last week, York Regional Police charged Lenford Roy Crawford, 28, of Brampton with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Eric Carty, 31, David Mylbaganam, 22, and Daniel Chi-Kwong Wong, 25, are also in custody.

Police have said they anticipate further arrests.
