Leafs sign prospect Brad Ross

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Brad Ross to a three-year entry level contract, the team’s president and general manager Brian Burke announced Tuesday.

In 68 games with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League this season, Ross, 19, has registered 42 goals, 40 assists, a plus-15 rating and 163 penalty minutes. The native of Lethbridge, Alta., eighth overall in goals in the WHL in 2011-12.

Toronto’s first selection, 43rd overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft has 109 goals, 136 assists, 245 points and 656 penalty minutes in 270 career games with the Winterhawks.
