Remembering the victims of COVID-19: George Morrison

By News staff

CityNews is remembering the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic through memories shared by their loved ones.

George Morrison was a lifelong entrepreneur with a rare combination of sharp business acumen and that “roll-up your sleeves and get your hands dirty,” work ethic.

A welder by trade, he cut his teeth working at Massey Ferguson and General Electric.

But, George had big dreams. Determined to chase those dreams and to make a better life for his family, he emigrated from his native Scotland to Canada in the ‘50s.

Sure, welding was his trade, but he was a skilled carpenter and electrician as well. Fixing and building, that’s what George was all about.

He bought a Scarborough-area apple orchard and turned it into a thriving trailer sales and rental business.

He sold that land and bought two parks to rent out the areas existing cottages and spaces for RVs and trailers.

His weeks were busy handling his businesses, but Sunday was all about family.

George would take his family on picnics trips to Georgetown, Niagara Falls.

On those trips, and all his days in between, he taught his children the value of integrity and honesty, traits that were ingrained in everything he did.

George Morrison was all about building…family, businesses, and a legacy.

Morrison was 95 years old when he passed away from COVID-19.
