Kim Novak accuses “The Artist” director of plagiarism

The silent film ‘The Artist’ has been praised by critics and is nominated for a number of awards, however, one person is not happy with the film’s director.

Actress Kim Novak is lashing out at Michel Hazanavicius because of his choice in music in the film.

Novak is accusing Hazanavicius of plagiarizing the score from Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1958 psychological thriller “Vertigo,” which she stared in along side Jimmy Stewart.

The 78-year-old actress made a statement to Variety that “rape had been committed with the use of Bernard Herrmans’ score.”

Hazanavicius defends his use of the music and says his film was inspired by the work of Hitchcock and other directors.

He says he respects Novak greatly and is sorry to hear she disagrees.

“The Artist” is up for six awards at the Golden Globes and is expected to receive several Oscar nominations.
