Man arrested, charged with attempted murder in connection with incident involving Sarnia police officer

Robin Alexander Maness, 32, has been arrested in connection to a Jan. 26 incident in which a suspect allegedly drove a vehicle toward a Sarnia police officer.

Police allege Maness was behind the wheel of a Cadillac SUV when it pulled into a business parking lot on Vidal Street.

When police approached the SUV it accelerated and almost struck one of the officers.

Another officer fired his gun at the vehicle during the incident.

A high-speed chase followed on Vidal Street that reached speeds of 160 kilometres per hour. Officers were forced to stop the chase to protect public safety, police said.

He’s being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Maness was arrested in the south end of Sarnia and also faces charges related to a home invasion in the north end of the city.
