22 people sent to jail in cocaine raid

TORONTO, Ont. – Police have scooped up over $1-million in drugs and put 22 people behind bars after a series of early morning raids Tuesday.

Tactical officers knocked in doors across Toronto and at locations in Woodbridge, Kitchener and Oshawa.

The arrests and seizures were part of a lengthy police investigation called Project Domo which was designed to deal a crippling blow to the cocaine trade in the GTA. Poilce seized just over 17 kilograms of cocaine along other drugs.

Police executed 45 search warrants, charged 38 people and seized 13 firearms. An arrest warrant is out for one other suspect. Police laid 115 drug and firearm-related charges.

The police also seized four firearms, a machine pistol, a 9mm handgun, a sawed-off shotgun, and a .22-calibre rifle. In addition, seven vehicles were seized as proceeds of crime Police seized a total street value of over $2,244,000 in controlled substances and $236,000 as proceeds of crime, not including the vehicles.

“It has been a very successful yield, over a million dollars worth of drugs seized  as well as some high-powered firearms, a Mac-10, a Mac-11 have been seized,” Cst. Wendy Drummond told 680News.

The raids are related to the arrests of  seven people in a raid on the Vagabonds biker clubhouse near Woodbine and Gerrard back in May.
