Suspect sought following fatal double shooting outside Scarborough school

A shooting outside Woburn Collegiate has left an 18 year old dead and another in hospital. Michelle Mackey brings us the latest from investigators and the Toronto District School Board.

A teen is dead, another is in hospital, and a killer is still at large after a double shooting in front of a Scarborough school on Monday afternoon.

The shooting took place in front of Woburn Collegiate, in the area of Ellesmere and Markham roads, just as classes were being let out for the day around 3:22 p.m

Paramedics told CityNews an 18-year-old male victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Police later confirmed his death.

A second victim, also a male teen, was rushed to a trauma centre via ambulance after he walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound. His condition is unknown at this point.

The school was put in lockdown before students were allowed to exit the school on the east side with the assistance of officers.

Police say a suspect fled the area westbound. He’s described as a Black male wearing a black jacket and wearing a COVID mask.

It’s not yet clear if the victims are students at the school.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has confirmed the school will be open on Tuesday and social workers will be on site to provide support to staff and students.
