71-year-old woman dies in hospital after being hit by falling light pole

A 71-year-old woman has died in hospital after she was struck by a falling light pole in Midtown Toronto earlier this month.
Police say a white delivery truck was parked in the northbound lane on Yonge Street near Hillsdale Avenue, just south of Eglinton Avenue, around 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 6. The truck struck a light pole as it pulled away, which fell and struck the woman.
She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died in hospital on Monday.
Police have not said if charges are pending against the driver of the truck. Any residents who may have security or dash camera footage around the time of the incident are being asked to contact Traffic Services.
The investigation is ongoing.
