A nasty Colorado Low made its way through southern Ontario, leading to a wide-ranging weather pattern that brought heavy rain in Toronto and the GTA, resulting in several flooded roads.
A rainfall warning was in place for the city as upwards of 50 mm gradually accumulated on Wednesday, as Environment Canada cautioned for locally higher amounts of 60 mm for areas which receive multiple thunderstorms.
Photos and videos began circulating online showing the aftermath of the powerful rain storm that hit Toronto on and off throughout the day, including intersections like Eglinton and Duplex in Midtown Toronto and College Street and Dovercourt Road in Little Italy.
The plot thickens? College Street is flooded and likely our office basement. We're told on account of the @cityoftoronto not paying to clean leaves out of our gutters in the fall…@college_bia @BravoDavenport pic.twitter.com/VQt5fivHJJ

A City of Toronto spokesperson said residents should call 3-1-1 to report basement flooding and flooding in the roadways, noting that Toronto Water crews are available to respond to flooding calls.
Environment Canada added that heavy downpours often lead to flash floods and water pooling on roads, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Canada’s weather agency said additional rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 mm are expected before rain ends Wednesday evening. Some unofficial reports note that certain locales may have received up to 40 mm today.
Halton-Peel and York-Durham are among the many regions under a rainfall warning this evening.
