Markham badminton coach charged with sexual assault on youth

York Regional Police have charged a badminton coach with sexually assaulting a youth in Markham.

Police say they began an investigation into the coach on May 11, 2023, after receiving information about a possible sexual assault.

The next day, police arrested a Markham man.

He’s facing two counts each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation.

Police say the suspect coaches badminton in the Markham area.
