Toronto police officer with 22 years of service charged with fraud

A veteran Toronto police officer with 22 years of service is facing charges in a fraud investigation and has been suspended with pay.

A spokesperson said during March and April 2023, a Toronto police officer over-billed paid duty customers for hours he did not work as a paid duty officer.

On Wednesday, 48-year-old Const. Andrew Corkill was arrested and charged with fraud of over $5,000 and breach of trust.

Const. Corkill is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17, 2023.

The accused officer from 53 Division has 22 years of service and has been suspended with pay.

Off-duty police officers are available for hire to provide police presence for various functions, including construction sites.

On Wednesday, Toronto police announced that another constable had been charged and suspended with pay for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a vulnerable member of the community.
