Police launch arson investigation after fires at two North York buildings

Toronto police are investigating an alleged arson at two North York apartment buildings.

Investigators say firefighters responded to the first call at a building on Leslie Street near York Mills Road around 11:18 p.m. on Saturday night.

Minutes later, fire crews were called to another fire less than a kilometre away in the area of Leslie Street and Farmstead Road.

Police say several residents were treated for minor injuries.

Residents have been allowed to return to their units except for those damaged in the fires.

Police say a criminal investigation is now underway.
