About Beverly

Beverly Andrews is Saulteaux from the Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation in Treaty 4. She is a two-time CSA nominated producer, working in journalism and documentary storytelling. Working across Saskatchewan and Manitoba, sometimes the only Indigenous staffer in the newsroom, she evolved from shooting and editing into on an on-air storyteller and national anchor. She’s works with Indigenous communities across Turtle Island, while also reporting general stories both nationally and regionally. She and her colleagues won a RTDNA in 2015 for coverage of the forest fires the destroyed much of northern Saskatchewan, how First Nation communities survived and the rebuilding process after such devastation. She produced a live news talk show for four seasons, pivoting from the in-person format to remote during the pandemic. She and her co-producer won an Indigenous Journalists Association award for their work regarding Child and Family Services and the overrepresentation of Indigenous children in the foster care system. Their pursuit of those stories resulted in the reunification of a family. Beverly’s work focuses on the unique social issues First Nations, Inuit and Metis people face, as well as their successes. In addition, she also works to bring awareness and a voice to social justice issues that effect the public such as poverty and affordability, addictions and corruption.
