About Catalina
Catalina Gillies joined the CityNews Toronto team in 2024.
She began her broadcasting career in Thunder Bay as a reporter and anchor before continuing to grow her career in Barrie and eventually making the leap to the big city. From covering TIFF red carpets to breaking news, community events, entertainment and sports, Catalina loves telling stories that connect with people across the GTA. She was first on scene covering the Delta Air Lines crash at Pearson Airport in 2025.
You can also occasionally find her filling in on weather, anchoring, and on Breakfast Television.
Born in Germany and raised in Vancouver, Catalina has called Ontario home for the past seven years. She speaks fluent German.
Outside of work, Catalina loves travelling, music, film, going to concerts, spending time with dogs and her family.
