Man Confesses to 2007 Murder

After a year and a half without any leads, police have a man in custody following a 2007 murder.

Julian Hinckson was 41 years old when he was found dead near the tracks at the Cummer GO Station June 5.

The father of nine had gone out to move his car in the Finch and Leslie area but never returned.

Hinckson, described by friends as a community activist and loving dad, was fatally stabbed in the chest. While police aren’t sure why the man known for fixing bikes for neighbourhood kids was targeted, at the time they said his killing not a random act.

Officers also revealed they were looking for at least two suspects. One man turned himself in at 33 Division Saturday.

But the investigation is still ongoing, as police search for a person of interest known only as “Fugee.”

Robert Sproule, 32, of Toronto, is charged with Second Degree Murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477). You can also text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637).
