A man, who was shot and killed while trying to rob a family in a Mississauga home, has been identified by police.
Ibrahim Abukar, 22, of Toronto, broke into a home with two other men on Corstone Glade, near Rathburn and Dixie roads, just after midnight Friday. The men, two of whom were armed, were confronted by the homeowner and a struggle ensued resulting in Abukar’s death.
“At this time investigators have no information connecting the deceased to the homeowner who suffered minor injuries,” Peel police said in a release.
The man was found dead in the basement.
A neighbour told CityNews the family, a couple with a month-old baby, lives in the upstairs part of the house and rents out the basement to a woman.
Police are searching for the other two men who fled on foot. They are both black, wearing dark clothing and armed with a handgun.
