Rat infestation closes Kensington fish shop

A rodent infestation has closed down a Kensington Market fish shop that’s been serving people for 50 years.

Photos of rats were posted online, drawing the attention of Toronto Public Health.

A number of area residents told CityNews they could see the rodents through the storefront window.

The New Seaway Fish Market was forced to close and workers have been cleaning for the last 24 hours.

“I just really worry about my business and I’m really sorry to my customers,” owner Kim Chou told CityNews.

Chou said he’s never seen rats in his establishment before but this incident has already cost him his biggest customer.

He said he is working closely with Toronto Public health and a notice posted on the door says the shop has passed its latest inspection.
