Mississauga man sought in theft of OPP cruiser Friday night

BRAMPTON, Ont. – Provincial police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 27-year-old Mississauga, Ont., man in connection with a wrong-way collision in Brampton, Ont.

Police say the collision occurred last Friday evening on the Highway 410 southbound ramp to Highway 407 eastbound.

Investigators say an officer was following an allegedly speeding vehicle on Highway 407 when it made a U-turn, exited the highway and collided head-on with another vehicle.

The Special Investigations Unit says two children – aged 7 and 3 – in the fleeing vehicle suffered minor injuries, while a 37-year-old female passenger in the second vehicle was taken to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.

When the officer arrived at the collision scene, police say two men fled and while officer tried to apprehend them, one returned and drove off in the OPP vehicle, which was later located in Mississauga.

OPP say a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Chevonie Andre Morgan on charges that include dangerous driving, and theft over $5,000.
