One person dead, multiple injuries in crash near Cookstown

One woman is dead and as many as four others injured following a crash north of Cookstown.
Ontario Provincial Police were called to a multi-vehicle crash on 9th Line between highway 89 and 5th Sideroad in Essa Township around 4 p.m.
The Barrie Examiner quotes police as saying a car with a female passenger was heading southbound on 9th Line and reportedly went through a stop sign, striking a van with six people on board, which was traveling eastbound on 5th Sideroad.
Roads in the area, which were closed due to the crash, were reopened about six hours later.
