Toronto police officer expected to survive after motorcycle crash

A Toronto police officer is expected to survive after his motorcycle was struck by a car in downtown Toronto.
Emergency crews were called to Lake Shore Boulevard West and Lower Spadina Avenue just after 10 a.m. on Friday.
The officer was was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“A motorcycle escort was coming eastbound on the Lake Shore, entering Lower Simcoe, [when] a southbound vehicle came through the intersection and struck one of the eastbound motorcycles,” Const. Clint Stibbe told 680 NEWS.
Police have not released the officer’s name.
There is no word on charges.
The eastbound Gardiner Expressway is closed at the Spadina ramp. There are other closures in the area as well.
