Peel police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a 25-year-old Mississauga woman.
Police say they arrested 39-year-old Joseph Chang, who’s reportedly the victim’s boyfriend, on Monday night in Toronto.
Chang, a Toronto resident, was arrested around 7:44 p.m. at a McDonald’s near Dufferin Street and King Street West.
He’s been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Alicia Lewandowski, whose body was discovered at 1343 Rathburn Road East in Mississauga at around 5 a.m. Monday morning.
Witness Norm Allison told CityNews he was nearby the McDonald’s when an army of officers suddenly appeared on scene.
“All of a sudden a whole bunch of police officers pulled up in cars and they ran to his car, but nobody was in it,” he explained. “They all ran into the restaurant. It must’ve scared the heck of everybody inside. I could hear them screaming, ‘Everybody down!’ ”
“He was handcuffed and they pulled him out within a couple of minutes.”
