Body of woman found near Lake Ontario in Whitby

Durham police are looking to determine the identity of a woman who was found near Lake Ontario on Saturday night.
Officers say a citizen was walking on the waterfront trail near Water Street in Whitby at around 9 p.m. when they stumbled upon the body of a woman.
Police were called and determined it was the body of a white female, believed to be in her 30s.
Efforts are underway to identify her which includes a review of missing person reports over the last several weeks.
No word on whether the woman’s death is being treated as suspicious.
