#CityVote 2018: Where to find GTHA election results

Monday is election day across Ontario, including in more than a dozen municipalities in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

To find out the election results from each individual municipality, follow the links below.

Brampton — Mayor Patrick Brown

Patrick Brown has been elected Mayor of Brampton, ousting incumbent Mayor Linda Jeffrey.

Voters elected the Mayor of Brampton, five city councillors (each representing two wards), five regional councillors (each representing two wards) and a school board trustee for Peel District School Board, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board or Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir. Results are available on the City of Brampton’s website and will be updated regularly.

Mississauga — Mayor Bonnie Crombie

One-term incumbent Mayor Bonnie Crombie has been re-elected Mayor of Mississauga.

Voters elected the Mayor of Mississauga, 11 ward councillors, and a school board trustee for the English Public District School Board, English Separate District School Board, French Public or French Separate. A full list of candidates can be found here.

Results are available on the Mississauga Votes website. Official results will be declared later in the week, likely on Thursday.

Vaughan — Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua

Incumbent Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua has been re-elected to his third term as Mayor of Vaughan.

Voters elected the Mayor of Vaughan, three regional councillors, five local councillors, three trustees for the York Region District School Board, four trustees for the York Catholic District School Board, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde trustee and one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee.

Markham — Mayor Frank Scarpitti

Three-term Incumbent Mayor Frank Scarpitti is currently leading by 3,000 votes in the Markham mayoral race, but online ballots have not yet been counted.

Voters are electing the Mayor of Markham, eight city councillors, four regional councillors, four trustees for the York Region District School Board, two trustees for the York Catholic District School Board, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde trustee and one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee.

The City of Markham is using online voting for their municipal election. Results are available online on the Markham Votes website and will be displayed in the Canada Room at the Markham Civic Centre between 8 and 10 p.m. on Monday. Certified results will be released later in the week.

Oakville — Mayor Rob Burton

Incumbent Mayor Rob Burton, who has served three terms, has been re-elected to a fourth term as Mayor of Oakville.

Voters will be electing the Mayor of Oakville, seven town councillors, seven regional councillors, one chair for the Regional Municipality of Halton, four trustees for the Halton Catholic District School Board, three trustees for the Halton Catholic District School Board, one French Language Public District School Board trustee, or One Catholic French Language District School Board.

Burlington — Mayor Meed Ward

Marianne Meed Ward has defeated two-term incumbent Mayor Rick Goldring to win Mayor of Burlington.

Voters elected the Mayor of Burlington, six city councillors, six regional councillors, one chair for the Regional Municipality of Halton, four trustees for the Halton Catholic District School Board, three trustees for the Halton Catholic District School Board, one French Language Public District School Board trustee and one Catholic French Language District School Board trustee.

Richmond Hill — Mayor Dave Barrow

Mayor Dave Barrow has been elected to his fourth term as Mayor of Richmond Hill.

Voters elected the Mayor of Richmond Hill, two regional councillors, six local councillors, two trustees for the York Region District School Board, one York Catholic District School Board trustee, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde trustee and one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee.

Hamilton — Mayor Fred Eisenberger

Incumbent Mayor Fred Eisenberger has held on to be elected as Mayor of Hamilton in a crowded field of candidates.

Voters elected the Mayor of Hamilton, 15 city councillors, 11 Hamilton Wentworth District School Board trustees, nine Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board trustees, one Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenir trustee and one Conseil Scolaire Viamonde trustee.

The city says election results will be reported in real time once the polls have closed at 8 p.m. on their website. They expect all the polls to be uploaded by 10:30 p.m.

Newmarket — Mayor John Taylor

Former Regional Councillor John Taylor has been elected to his first term as Mayor of Newmarket.

Voters have elected the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and Regional Councillor, seven Town Councillors, and one York Regional District School Board trustee, one York Catholic District School Board Trustee, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde Trustee, or one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir Trustee.

The Town of Newmarket is using online voting for their municipal election. Unofficial election results are available on the Town’s election website.

Milton — Mayor Gordon Krantz

Incumbent Mayor Gordon Krantz has been elected to his 13th term as the Mayor of Milton with 81 per cent of the vote. The 81-year-old is the longest-serving mayor of a major municipality in Canada at 38 years. He surpassed Mississauga’s Hazel McCallion in December of 2016 after winning re-election in 2014 with over 75 per cent of the vote.

Voters in Milton have elected the Mayor, one Chair for the Regional Municipality of Halton, four town councillors, four regional councillors, two Halton District School Board trustees, two Halton Catholic District School Board trustees, one French Language Public District School Board trustee and one Catholic French Language District School Board trustee.

The Halton District School Board Trustee for Wards 1 & 2 and the Catholic French Language District School Board Trustee have been acclaimed as they were running unopposed.

Results for the election will be posted on the Milton Votes website shortly after polls close at 8 p.m. and will be updated as they come in.

Orangeville — Mayor Sandy Brown

Sandy Brown has defeated incumbent Jeremy D. Williams to be elected as Orangeville’s Mayor.

Voters have elected the Mayor of Orangeville, the Deputy Mayor of Orangeville, five town councillors, one Upper Grand District School Board Trustee, one Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Trustee, one Conseil Scolaire Trustee or one Conseil Scolaire de district catholique MonAvenir Trustee.

Orangeville have posted the results on their website and it will updated as the votes are counted.

Ajax

Shaun Collier is currently winning by over 2,000 votes in the bid to replace Mayor Steve Parish, who was first elected in 1995 and has served for the past 23 years, but announced earlier this year he would not be running for re-election.

The Town of Ajax is using online and telephone voting for their municipal election meaning all the results are available on their website.

Voters will elect the Mayor of Ajax, three Local Councillors, three Regional Councillors, one Regional Chair for the Region of Durham, and two Durham District School Board Trustees, one of two Durham Catholic District School Board Trustees, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde Trustee and one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir Trustee.

Caledon — Mayor Allan Thompson

Incumbent Mayor Allan Thompson has been re-elected as Mayor of Caledon.

Voters is electing the Mayor of Caledon, four Local Councillors, four Regional Councillors and a school board trustee for the Peel District School Board, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.

The town will be posting the election results on their website beginning at 8 p.m. and it will be updated as the results are confirmed with the Returning Officer.

Whitby — Mayor Don Mitchell

One-term incumbent Mayor Don Mitchell has been re-elected as the Mayor of Whitby.

Voters have elected the Mayor of Whitby, four local councillors, four regional councillors, one Regional Chair for the Region of Durham, three Durham District School Board trustees, one of two Durham Catholic District School Board trustees, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde Trustee and one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee.

Results are posted on the Town of Whitby website. All results are expected to be in by 10 p.m.

Oshawa — Mayor Dan Carter

Incumbent regional councillor Dan Carter has been elected Mayor, replacing current Mayor John Henry who was elected chair of Durham Region.

Voters have elected the mayor of Oshawa, five local councillors, five regional councillors, one regional chair for the Region of Durham, three Durham District School Board trustees, two Durham Catholic District School Board trustees, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde Trustee and one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee.

Pickering — Mayor Dave Ryan

Incumbent Mayor Dave Ryan, who was first elected in 2004, has once again been elected Mayor of Pickering

Voters have elected the Mayor of Pickering, three City Councillors, three Regional Councillors, one Regional Chair for the Region of Durham, one Durham District School Board Trustee, one Conseil scolaire Viamonde Trustee and one Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee.

The City of Pickering is using online voting for its municipal election and has been extended to 10 p.m. due to issues with the online voting system. Results are available here.
