Police are exploring a new theory in one of last year’s unsolved murders.
Leroy Whittaker was shot in the head through the door of his Flemington Rd. apartment last July, the bullets narrowly missing a 10-year-old boy he was babysitting.
Homicide detectives have been stumped as to who may have wanted Whittaker dead, and now they wonder whether the 46-year-old was the victim of mistaken identity.
There’s word the murder may be connected to several other shootings in the Allen Rd. and Lawrence Ave. area at about the same time.
Whittaker’s death was one of the most shocking in 2005’s ‘year of the gun’ in Toronto. It was the 10-year-old who called police to report the shooting.
Anyone with information in that case is asked to call 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
