A Polo Ralph Lauren store in Manhattan has taken a cue from the Steven Spielberg film Minority Report and has installed a holographic screen on its windows that projects images of inventory and allows passersby to purchase items even if the store is closed.
If you see a shirt you like, you simply whip out some plastic and your credit card is scanned through the glass.
Shopaholics better steer clear of this window display.
Penguins In Peril
When driving on a Texas highway you’d expect to come across the odd armadillo but nearly two-dozen penguins were recently spotted on a stretch of road in the Lone Star state.
A truck carrying wildlife overturned on a sweltering east Texas highway Tuesday. The vehicle was hauling the wildlife to Moody Gardens – a tourist centre in Galveston.
Four penguins and some exotic fish were killed in the accident according to state troopers, who said this was the most bizarre accident they’d ever handled.
“We’ve worked several wrecks involving cows, horses, pigs, even fish, but this is the first where the live animals were penguins,” Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Richard Buchanan said.
The other marine birds gathered together in a roadside ditch.
The vehicle was also transporting an octopus that was uninjured.
Although the deaths of the four penguins and the fish were tragic, it could’ve been worse.
“There was another truck full of snakes and alligators that was an hour ahead of them, so luckily we didn’t have to deal with the alligators,” Buchanan said.
