Whitney Houston Files For Divorce From Bobby Brown

It appears Whitney Houston’s greatest love of all isn’t Bobby Brown.

After a rocky 14-year marriage, the two are on the path to divorce after the pop diva filed papers in Orange County Superior Court this week.

The divorce documents were filed a month after Houston filed for legal separation from Brown.

The 43-year-old has apparently requested that she be given custody of the couple’s 13-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina and that Brown be allowed visitation rights.

Houston married the R&B artist in 1992 when she was at the peak of her popularity – starring in films like The Bodyguard, which also spawned one of her biggest hits, I Will Always Love You.

Brown was famous in his own right as a former member of boy band New Edition.

But things seemed to fall apart after the two walked down the aisle. Brown was arrested several times for drugs and Houston entered drug rehabilitation programs twice.

Last month, the singer attended a Beverly Hills event with her cousin, singer Dionne Warwick, and famed music mogul Clive Davis. She’s working on a new album with Davis and is reportedly trying to clean up her tarnished image.

Brown has two other children, both in their teens, with a woman from Massachusetts. He recently paid US$11,000 in late child support after being threatened with arrest.

His lawyer said he was having a “very difficult” time dealing with the separation from Houston.
