Toronto Man Injured After Getting Hit With Falling Ice

Thursday’s vicious storm ravaged parts of the GTA, leaving thousands without power.
But even though many were stuck in cold, powerless homes, few likely suffered as much as Nuno Marques.
Marques was walking along Station Street , just south of Front on Friday, when a large chunk of ice he says was falling from the CN Tower landed directly on his head.
The impact was so great that it knocked him to the ground.
“It was like a big bang on the side of my head,” Marques told CityNews in an exclusive interview.
“It was an experience I’ve never felt in my life.”
Marques may have gotten it worse than most, but chunks of ice peeling away from the CN Tower were falling for much of Friday and into Saturday, hitting windows, buildings and cars and causing extensive damage in some areas.
Bremner Blvd. remained closed between York St. and the Rogers Centre Sunday, because of shifting winds and the continued danger of falling ice.
As for Marques, he says he’ll be staying away from the area until he’s absolutely sure it’s safe.
“Today I still feel ringing, but (the laceration) here is where it hurts the most,” he said.
Marques also insists the experience has given him migraines and left him with dizzy spells. He’s been forced to take time off work to fully recover.
