Troy Glaus made a triumphant return to the Blue Jays lineup on Monday night, tying a close game with a sixth inning single before blasting the go-ahead homer in the eighth as Toronto edged the Baltimore Orioles 5-3.
The Jays have now won three of their last four games following an embarrassing nine-game losing skid, and Monday’s victory restored a bit of the shattered confidence in their bullpen.
Scott Downs relieved starter Tomo Ohka, throwing 2 1-3 scoreless innings, while Casey Janssen (1-0) recorded two outs in the eighth and Jeremy Accardo finished things off in the ninth for his second save.
Glaus missed the previous two games with a foot ailment, but his bat was in fine shape, evidenced by his seventh homer of the season.
