Toronto Police have arrested a third suspect in the tragic shooting death of 11-year-old Ephraim Brown.
Twenty-two-year-old Sheldon Gladstone Evans was charged Wednesday with breaking a bail condition of house arrest for allegedly being present during the fatal drive-by shooting that took place early Sunday. Police allege Evans is a member of the 5-point Generals Gang.
On Monday, 20-year-old Akiel Eubank and 21-year-old Gregory Sappleton were charged in connection with Brown’s murder.
Brown was shot around midnight in the Jane and Sheppard area during a weekend that saw four people fall victim to gunplay. He was rushed to hospital with serious gunshot wounds and later died. Brown was attending a cousin’s birthday party in the area with many other kids when the violence erupted.
“Ephraim Brown was caught in between two rival gangs that were shooting at each other,” confirmed Toronto Police Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux at a press conference Sunday afternoon.
Brown’s wake will be at the DeMarco Funeral Home [3725 Keele St.] and is planned for Thursday, July 26 from 7pm until 9pm. Also hours are from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Friday the 27th.
The last time for viewing is at the Emmanuel Church on Sheppard, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am.
His funeral will follow immediately afterwards at 11 am at the Emmanuel Church.
Busses will be taking people from the church to the burial ceremony at Beechwood cemetary above Jane on a first-come first-serve basis.
