Cops in Durham Region are seeking a bandit who chose a bizarre disguise to hide his face during a robbery in Pickering this weekend. The man walked into the TD-Canada Trust branch at 750 Oklahoma Drive in the Bayly-Whites Road area around 10am Saturday, wearing only bandages across his face.
He walked up to a teller, produced a hold-up note and got an undisclosed amount of cash, before rushing out of the bank and disappearing into the busy weekend crowds. He never showed a gun, but tellers are instructed to surrender the money and not put their own lives in danger and the one in this case followed that procedure.
Security cameras caught the brazen bandaged bandit as he entered the building, the best clue police have. But if his disguise was unorthodox, at least it was effective. There’s no way to see his face in the pictures.
The K9 unit was brought in to hunt for the suspect, but both he and his scent were long gone by the time the specially trained noses got on the case. But witnesses had a good look at the rest of him. He’s described as:
- White,
- Mid-20’s,
- 5’8″,
- Sling on his left arm.
Durham Regional Police want to rip those bandages off his face and find out who’s behind the mask. If you know who he is, call 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
