Penguins Destroy Leafs

An N.H.L. hockey game lasts a full 60 minutes, not including overtime, but it took just 48 seconds of the third period for the Pittsburgh Penguins to bury the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night.  In that brief span of time the Penguins put three pucks past Leafs goalie Scott Clemmensen on their way to a commanding 6-2 win.

Evgeni Malkin scored three of Pittsburgh’s goals for his first N.H.L. hat-trick as the Pens ran their winning streak to five games.

Sidney Crosby assisted on two of Malkin’s goals and Petr Sykora and rookie Tyler Kennedy each scored.

Ty Conklin stopped 33 shots and now boasts a perfect 6-0 record since being called up from the minors.

Jason Blake scored both Toronto goals.
