Police are warning women in the Bloor St. and St. George area to be on the lookout for a potentially dangerous prowler who’s been spotted peeping into windows in the neighbourhood.
Several students who live in a University of Toronto sorority house have seen him lurking about suspiciously, and fears are mounting that he may have dangerous intentions.
“We saw a guy that was just like peering through the window,” explains Sharon Yoo. “He was in a leather jacket or like a black jacket, and he was just like standing on the fire escape by himself.”
The mystery man has been seen on more than one occasion, and police say several women have reported similar incidents recently in the area around the Annex and U of T.
“People actually will creep on people. People actually look into people’s houses expecting to see something. I don’t know, but it’s scary,” adds student Nicole McCarthy.
Police are warning women to make sure their windows are covered and locked.
Witnesses tell police the prowler is white, in his late teens or early 20s, five-six to five-ten with a thin build.
Police would like to hear from anyone who thinks they recognize the suspect from the description, and from any other women who have been victimized.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5300, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or online at http://www.222tips.com/.
