In the early hours of Monday morning, a Burlington neighbourhood woke up with a startling bang.
It appears that a back yard shed on Marley Road exploded, and the sound of the blast led many residents to call police.
When Halton Police arrived, they found one man on the scene with non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Hamilton General Hospital. No one in the home was hurt, and it appears everyone in the neighbourhood is safe.
On Tuesday officers went back to the address – and this time, they had a warrant. As a result of the search by the Service-Drug and Morality bureau, police suspect that the shed had been used to extract cannabis resin (hashish).
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is also investigating the incident at 718 Marley Road. So far, no one has been charged.
The home owner John Allen, 44, remains in hospital.
Anyone with information can call the Drug and Morality Bureau ( 905) 825-4777 Ext 5256 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
