Minors No Longer Allowed To Fly Alone On WestJet

Once again, a national airline has upped its prices.
Days after Air Canada introduced a charge for customer service, West Jet will now require all minors to fly with a paying guardian.
Previously, children under 11 could fly unattended. But the airline reviewed that program when a five-year-old girl needed to be escorted off a plane by a kind stranger.
The new fare is a half-price ticket for parents or guardians accompanying their children, as long as they return to the city of origin with 24 hours.
WestJet says the new fare will “minimize risk.”
Most other carriers charge an extra fee to look after children who are flying by themselves.
