Chinese Police Hope Security Footage Will Lead Them To Cdn. Model’s Killer

Chinese investigators are reportedly poring over surveillance tapes from the Shanghai apartment building where the body of a Canadian model was discovered this week.
Diana O’Brien, 22, who’d only arrived in the Chinese city last month to pursue her modeling career, was stabbed to death in her apartment building. There are differing accounts as to how her body was discovered. There are reports the woman’s roommate made the awful find Monday and others that state a cleaning lady followed a trail of blood from the victim’s apartment to the stairwell where her body was found.
Police in Shanghai reportedly showed the security footage to O’Brien’s roommate Charlotte Wood, who said the images didn’t immediately reveal any clues in the case.
Authorities believe the woman’s death happened during a break-in.
The slain model, a native of Salt Spring Island, B.C., was apparently not enjoying her experience in the Chinese city and told her boyfriend, Joel Berry, she was very homesick.
O’Brien had been modeling for about three years and her career had recently taken her to Milan and then Shanghai. The woman’s family is currently trying to have her body returned to Canada.
