Ontario natural gas customers who buy their gas supply from Enbridge Gas Distribution can expect to pay approximately $157 less annually under new rates approved by the Ontario Energy Board.
Enbridge announced Thursday it has received approval from the Ontario Energy Board for its Oct. 1 rates, which reflect a decrease in North American natural gas prices and higher tolls to transport natural gas from western Canada to Ontario.
The price cut doesn’t include a gas cost adjustment charge of 1.7 cents per cubic metre which will be in effect from Oct. 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009. The average customer will pay approximately $39 extra over the six-month period.
Customers who purchase their natural gas from a marketer will see their bill increase by approximately $4 annually due to increased transportation costs.
Enbridge says its gas supply charge has decreased to 33.8 cents per cubic metre from 39 cents per cubic metre.
