It’s one of the most sensational cases in recent British history and chances are you never heard about it. But it’s a sensation in Britian and you can expect it to be the subject of several books and movies now that it’s finally over.

It concerns a British chef named Anthony Morley (top left), who was found guilty of brutally killing a man he was seeing – and then cooking and eating his flesh.

The 36-year-old hooked up with Damien Oldfield at his Leeds home last April.

As they watched “Brokeback Mountain” together – a story about two cowboys who begin an affair together over a number of years – Morley claims his 33-year-old date tried to initiate sexual contact with him, which the killer claims brought back memories of sex abuse from his childhood and triggered a fear that he would be raped.

He claims he blacked out and while in that state of unconsciousness, brutally stabbed his companion as he lay beside him in bed, and then sliced off part of his flesh, which he started cooking on the stove.

Six pieces of charred flesh from the victim’s thigh and chest were discovered on a chopping board in the killer’s kitchen. A number of herbs and olive oil was found in a pan. Police also located what appeared to be chewed flesh in a garbage bag.

Not long after the attack, Morley walked into a fast food restaurant near his home drenched in a blood spattered dressing gown and breathlessly confessed to the killing. After being arrested, the accused maintained he had no memory about what he’d done and couldn’t recall what happened to the body.

But after a sensational trial, he was found guilty and on Monday, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

“Before this case I had associated cannibalism with eras long gone, with the tale of Robinson Crusoe. No longer,” an angry Judge James Stewart revealed, noting Morley never showed any remorse for the crime.  “You have plumbed depths rarely encountered in our court.”

Stewart called the killing “one of the most gruesome murders” he’d ever come across and termed Morley, a former Mr. Gay U.K. winner, a dangerous man who has to be kept from society.

The former chef hung his head as the justice spoke, before being led back to prison to begin his sentence.
