A Mississauga high school was in lockdown Thursday morning after a gun was reportedly spotted inside, and five other campuses in the area were also affected.
Peel Police arrived on scene at Lincoln M. Alexander Secondary School, located at 3545 Morning Star Dr., at about 9:30am. Staff contacted authorities after one employee allegedly saw a student with a handgun.
Authorities set up a perimeter around the facility as they searched the grounds, but no weapon was found.
Two youths were detained for questioning, but no charges will be laid.
Police lifted the lockdown just after 3pm, close to 5 hours after it began.
Earlier, the facility was evacuated and students were taken to the Malton Community Centre at 3540 Morning Star Drive, where they remained as the school was cleared.
Five nearby schools also closed their doors and students weren’t released until the lockdown ended.

- Darcel Avenue Senior Public School, 7635 Darcel Avenue, Mississauga
- Corliss Public School, 3730 Corliss Cres., Mississauga
- Dunrankin Drive Public School, 3700 Dunrankin Drive, Mississauga
