A north-Toronto strip mall was the scene of a terrifying blaze early Saturday morning. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Firefighters and other emergency crews responded to the call at 80 Ellesmere Road just before 2:30am.
They found a single-storey plaza with 11 commercial units, one of which was fully engulfed in flames.
The outbreak at the clothing store eventually required 17 fire trucks and 70 firefighters who worked quickly to knock down the flames in less than 30 minutes, successfully stopping it from spreading to other units.
However, those stores and businesses may still have smoke damage.
Despite the early hour, the dramatic fire pulled wide-awake residents to the scene to stare at the wreckage.
It’s not yet known what caused the fire, but the extent of the damages are clear: The cost of the blaze is estimated to be $350,000.
