Leafs Acquire Some Toughness In Trade For Brad May
When Brian Burke was hired to lead the Leafs into the future, he promised to create a team with, ‘proper levels of pugnacity, testosterone, truculence and belligerence.”
On Wednesday he acquired a player who possesses all of those attributes.
In his first deal as Leafs president and G.M. Burke traded a 2010 sixth-round draft pick to his former squad, the Anaheim Ducks, in exchange for Brad May, an ageing, but still somewhat effective forward known for his fistic prowess and leadership qualities.

“Brad will provide character, toughness, and he is a proven winner,” Burke said in a statement. “We look forward to the veteran leadership that he will give our team.”
May, who is 37, won a cup with the Ducks in 2007. His career includes stints with Buffalo, Vancouver, Phoenix, Colorado and Anaheim.
