16-Yr.-Old Girl Walking On Sidewalk Dies After Being Struck By Out Of Control SUV

A young girl is dead after a terrible chain reaction accident in Vaughan.

A 16-year-old was walking down Langstaff Rd. at Ansley Grove Road with her brother around 4:15pm Tuesday when the unthinkable happened. An SUV that had moments before been involved in a collision in the intersection flew out of control and careened onto the sidewalk.

It headed straight for a 16-year-old girl and crushed her in the impact.

She had no chance to avoid it.

The teen had no vital signs by the time help arrived, but crews managed to regain her pulse and an ambulance rushed her to hospital in very grave and life threatening condition.

She died not long after. Her family managed to make it to hospital just before she passed away.

A Buick was apparently trying to make a left turn on a yellow light when it collided with an SUV, and that the impact caused the SUV to veer toward the victim. The SUV driver is said to have remained on scene for hours afterward, eventually told of the terrible news.

There’s no word on whether charges will be laid and it could be some time before police know enough to conclude what happened and who may be at fault. Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

York Regional Police closed Langstaff between Pine Valley Drive and Valeria Boulevard for a time but it’s since been reopened.
