CityNews Exclusive: Security Footage Released After Brazen Daylight Shooting In Etobicoke

A brazen daylight shooting Friday put a 30-year-old man in hospital and has Toronto Police on t he hunt for at least two suspects.

But what the alleged gunmen likely didn’t know is that their actions were caught on tape. Security camera video of the suspects can be seen below.

Officers were called to 613 The East Mall just before 2pm when residents reported hearing gunshots.

“Two suspects walked to the north doors and unloaded two semi-automatic weapons. These two parties need to be locked up and put away to protect the rest of the citizens of Toronto,” emphasized Det. Lester Wright.

Sgt. Jason Coulthard expressed concern that the consequences could have been much worse.

“Anywhere between five and nine shots were fired. They were spraying the hallway with bullets. Thankfully, this happened at a time when the kids were not around.”

The victim, who has not been identified, was found lying in a hallway with obvious wounds to his leg.

“He was banging at our door asking for help, and my family helped [him.] They brought [him] in. There was blood everywhere,” described resident Cassandra Patel.

When emergency crews arrived, they rushed the victim to Sunnybrook, where he remains. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Another man who was with the victim at the time managed to escape injury. Neither of the two live at the west-end address.

Witnesses say they spotted two men leaving the building. Cops are now trying to figure out who they are and they think this security footage might jog some memories.
